Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture:
Common Repair Techniques and Indications

Here at CPC we are proud to offer cruciate repair surgery for felines and canines. The type of repair needed may vary based on patient size, age, health issues, other joint diseases, etc. Therefore, a careful examination and radiographs are typically taken to help diagnose and determine the best method of repair. We currently offer the extracapsular repair for felines and small canines, as well as the TTA repair for medium and larger sized canines. For more information on these and other types of cruciate repair, please call our clinic at (760) 942-1220 and refer to the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Website (ACVS):

The ACVS says “The decision between TPLO and TTA is based purely on the opinion of your surgeon and their personal technical experience. To date, no published data supports one technique being superior to the other.” We offer the TTA because it has been shown that the limb has a quicker return to function and recovery time is shorter.
